Henk van den Broek

Kalypso

Kalypso was the 1998 world champion of the 6-yr-olds in Lanaken, ridden by Henk van den Broek. Kalypso`s sire Calypso was also an international showjumping horse and is a full brother to the popular Belgian sire Pachat II and the German licensed Quasi Roi. Wil Schellekens` international showjumping horse Hollywood is a daughter of Kalypso. The French bred Calypso was combined through Kalypso with an originally French lineage. Dam Gironde is a product of Jasper, son of Courville xx who, under the name of Little One was very successful in the showjumping sport and with Hugo Simon claimed many victories, such as the Hamburg Derby. The international showjumpers Legato, Just Do It and Jabot are only three of the top-class products of Jasper, who is considered one of the best jumping sires the Netherlands has ever had.

Kalypso`s grandam is Bienfait, who is also granddam of the stallion Into The West. At the time Henk van den Broek also started Bienfait`s full brother Valentijn at national level, which was later licensed in Italy and served under the name of Valentino. Another full brother, Guadeloupe, was successful in the showjumping sport and claimed the French national title at 1.30m level. All three descend from Almé Z out of the import mare O. Hildegune (Usetout x Red Star II xx x Le Royal x Relic xx).
